As a BOOKKEEPER, you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and performing various accounting tasks for a company or organization. You will play a vital role in recording financial transactions, managing accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Financial Transactions and Record-Keeping:

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions, such as sales, purchases, receipts, and payments, into the accounting system.
  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts by verifying and posting transactions.
  • Prepare and process invoices, bills, and expense reports.
  • Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date filing systems for financial documents.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Manage accounts payable by reviewing and verifying invoices, coding expenses, and issuing payments.
  • Process and record vendor invoices, ensuring proper approval and accurate allocation to appropriate accounts.
  • Monitor and manage accounts receivable, including generating customer invoices, tracking payments, and following up on overdue invoices.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable balances.

Payroll and Employee Benefits:

  • Process payroll, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, deductions, and withholdings.
  • Maintain payroll records, including employee time sheets, attendance, and leave balances.
  • Prepare and remit payroll taxes, including federal and state tax filings.
  • Assist with administering employee benefits, such as health insurance and retirement plans.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Generate and analyse various financial reports, including aging reports, trial balances, and profit and loss statements.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
  • Provide support for audits and assist in the preparation of supporting documentation.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist in preparing and filing tax returns, including sales tax, payroll tax, and income tax.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records to support financial transactions and audits.
  • Assist in implementing and improving internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks related to the finance department.
  • Respond to inquiries from vendors, customers, and employees regarding financial matters.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments as needed.


  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in accounting or related field is a plus).
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Familiarity with relevant accounting regulations and compliance requirements.
